About six years ago Cleveland Browns and the Atlanta Falcons took part in a draft-day trade. It ended horribly for one team. The Falcons were able to acquire the No. 6 overall pick from the Browns in exchange for five draft picks (first, second and fourth-round picks in 2011). Plus the Falcons gave up their first and fourth-round picks in 2012.
The Falcons ended up drafting Julio Jones first round and the Browns drafted defensive lineman Phil Taylor, receiver Greg Little, fullback Owen Marecic and quarterback Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson in 2012. I think it is quite obvious who got screwed over by the trade deal. Look at who is still performing now and who isn't even relevant anymore. If it is not obvious, Jones has outscored five of the Browns' draft picks by far.
The Browns will have another opportunity to draft well with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 draft after going 1-15 this season. Will they learn from their mistakes and finally draft a franchise player?
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot was faced with a unique situation at his first Pro Bowl appearance. Elliot had one catch, a few carries, and appeared on special teams last night. He wasn't just tackling football players yesterday.
One brave fan decided to run on the field and challenge Elliot. Everyone else stood there and watched this fan run around the field while Elliot was determined to showcase his tackling skills. Elliot took down the fan before letting him go... and then attempted to race him.
Many months after suffering a major non-contact knee injury, Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is still recovering and learning that he may not be able to play at all in 2017. It is still early to speculate his status for 2017, but sources are saying that there is a good change he will not be back to full strength in time to start next season, or even play at all.
The Vikings were able to pick up quarterback Sam Bradford via trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to fill the gap at quarterback. He will still be under contract through 2017.
Bridgewater did win Ed Block Courage Award last December.
"It's an honor to win this award, especially as my teammates made the selection," Bridgewater said. "2016 has been amazing for me. Everyone looks at an injury as a negative. It has helped me spiritually and mentally even with me already being an extremely positive person."
