Will Jordan Cameron Retire This Season?

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Miami Dolphins tight end Jordan Cameron  will be placed on injured reserve and is contemplating retiring from the NFL. Cameron hasn't been able to return since week 3 (his latest concussion) against the Browns.

Concussions are starting to get the best of the talented tight end. He has had four concussions in the last four years. The last time he appeared in every game was last season, his first season with the Dolphins. It was also Cameron's first full season since 2012.

His coaches perspective:

"I think if anybody had any concerns in this organization, that would have been brought to me. I know that I've been around a few guys that over time, it has gone up. I know Wes [Welker] had quite a few before I was with him in Denver, and then we had too many when I was with him in those last couple of years," said Adam Gase.

The concussions, other injuries, and inability to stay on the field has continued to drop his performance year after year. The last season Cameron performed well was 2013, when he tallied 917 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 28-year-old former forth round pick has a lot of talent, but the injuries are starting to hurt him more than usual. A players health should always be the top priority. Should this be the season he retires from football?
