Former NFL Safety Darren Sharper Given 20 Years of Jail Time for Rape Charges

A judge has given NFL safety Darren Sharper 20 years in prison after he pleaded no contest to rape charges across several states. During the summer months of 2015, Sharper pleaded guilty to get some kind of deal from the courts in California, Arizona and Nevada.

Local Louisiana prosecutes were will to give him nine years in prison, put a federal judge came down hard on him maximizing the sentence to 18 years. In March 2015, a judge working in Arizona gave him nine years. All sentencing will be served concurrently.

During his hearing one of the victims made a statement:

"I can only imagine myself lying there like a vegetable while he took advantage of my body without my permission. I have lost every bit of self confidence I've ever had and am always in fear while alone. It doesn't matter whether it's day or night, I can see a guy and automatically in my head think, 'What if this guy tries to rape me?'"

The Associated Press has released information claiming Sharper rapped and drugged about 16 women in Nevada, California, Louisiana and Arizona.
