Emmitt Smith to Ezekiel Elliot: "I am Inspired."

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been excellent this season leading all running backs with 1285 yards. He could be on pace for just shy off 2000 rushing yards on the season. Elliot has received a lot of praise from teammates, fans, other players around the league, and even some of the older greats. All-time leading rusher and former Cowboy, Emmitt Smith has nothing but good things to say about Elliot.

"I see a guy who has vision, explosion, speed and quickness," Smith told Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPN.com. "I just see a guy that's poised to do great things in this league and has an offensive line that will give him an opportunity to do it. I'm loving what I'm seeing. I am inspired."

Elliot has had 263 carries and produced 107.1 yards per contest this season. He already surpassed the franchise's previous rookie rushing yards record set by Tony Dorsett in 1977 (1077 rushing yards). Elliot's explosiveness as a runner and ability to find the end zone (12 times this season) is enough to convince most teams that he will have a great, long NFL career.

"It was a beautiful jump cut. It was beautiful," Smith said (referring to the video above). "I used it as a tool to show my son—most people don't even know what a jump cut is—and illustrate what he did and how he got out into the open. It was a great teaching moment."
